Project 2013, week 2: Tamron SP Adaptall-2 90mm f/2.5 [52B]
The Tamron SP 90mm f/2.5 macro is a great lens which appears to have survived down through the ages in manual and autofocus incarnations. I acquired my copy as an unidentified lens in an auction for a Minolta X-700 camera. The camera wasn’t working, but the lens was just fine.
This version was supplied with the Tamron Adaptall-2 mount, a system that allowed one lens to be mounted on a range of camera bodies by using an interchangeable mount. The lens is manual focus and very solidly built; I have adaptors for the Minolta SR (manual focus) and AF (Alpha) systems. You can discover more about these lenses at www.adaptall-2.org.
The pictures that follow were taken on a gloomy day in Oxford with the lens mounted on a NEX-7 body.
